Create a promotion: #
1. Click button New Promotion
2. Set a Promotion ID
3. Select Promotion type
4. Set Rules: You can specify various Rules for boosting or burring some Items based on their Properties, so you can apply these rules to your recommendation:
Bust → refers to the process of increasing the visibility of certain search results, products, or content to improve engagement and conversions. In Search AI, boosting ensures that priority items appear higher in rankings based on business goals, user behavior, or relevance.
Manually define which products or categories should appear first.
🔹 Example: Boost new arrivals in search results. / Boost “Nike” brand products when searching for “running shoes.”
Bury → Manually pushing down or suppressing certain products in search results to deprioritize them. Merchandising teams often bury low-margin, outdated, or irrelevant items to improve search efficiency.
When Should You Bury a Product?
✓ If the product has low sales & engagement.
✓ If it’s out of stock but still showing up.
✓ If the product doesn’t match search intent.
✓ If a better alternative exists (e.g., newer models).
5. Set Promotion Conditions: In Search AI, merchandising, and promotions, conditions help define rules for boosting, burying, filtering, or displaying products based on numerical or categorical values.
Promotion Conditions: #
1. Equals (=)
📌 Checks for an exact match between a value and a condition.
🔹 Example Use Cases:
✅ If Category = “Sneakers”, boost Nike and Adidas.
✅ If Brand = “Apple”, prioritize iPhones in search results.
✅ If Stock Status = “Out of Stock”, bury the product.
2. Greater Than ( > )
📌 Triggers an action when a value is above a certain threshold.
🔹 Example Use Cases:
✅ If Discount % > 30, boost the product in search.
✅ If Rating > 4.5, promote it in recommendations.
✅ If Stock Level > 100, push it to top results.
3. Less Than ( < )
📌 Triggers an action when a value is below a threshold.
🔹 Example Use Cases:
✅ If Stock < 10, bury the product in search results.
✅ If Price < $50, display it under “Budget Picks.”
✅ If CTR < 2%, demote it from top rankings.
Add Boosting coefficient. A boosting coefficient is a factor applied to search ranking algorithms to increase (or decrease) the visibility of a product, keyword, or attribute. It determines how strongly a boosting rule affects search rankings.
🔹 Higher Coefficient → More Visibility (stronger boost)
🔹 Lower Coefficient → Less Visibility (weaker boost)
Example Scale:
- 1.0 → Neutral (no boost applied)
- 1.5 → Slight boost
- 2.0 → Moderate boost
- 3.0+ → Strong boost
How is Boosting Coefficient Used? #
🔹 Product Boosting: If Nike products have a boosting coefficient of 2.0, they appear twice as prominently as other products.
🔹 Attribute-Based Boosting: If “Organic” = 1.8, then organic products get 80% more priority in search results or If “4+ star rating” = 2.5, highly rated products are ranked much higher.
🔹 User Behavior Boosting Example: If a customer frequently buys Adidas, then Adidas products get a personalized boost of 2.0 for that user.
