AI Dictionary

Dictionary: a set of predefined rules that control how search queries are processed, helping improve accuracy and relevance. These rules can include ignored words, disassociated words, and word replacements to refine search results.:

Words Ignored (Stop Words)   #

  • Definition: Words that are removed from a search query because they don’t add value to the meaning.
  • Purpose: Improves efficiency and relevance by eliminating common words that don’t impact search intent.
  • Examples: Common words: the, and, is, in, of, for, at
  • Example Query: “Find the best shoes for running” → Treated as “best shoes running”

Do Not Associate (Negative Keywords / Disallowed Terms)   #

  • Definition: Words that should not be linked to certain results, preventing irrelevant matches.
  • Purpose: Avoids incorrect or misleading search results.
  • Examples: A tech store may exclude “apple” from showing fruit-related results. or a clothing store may prevent “jacket” from showing life jackets instead of fashion jackets.

Word Replacement (Synonyms & Keyword Mapping)   #

  • Definition: Words or phrases automatically replaced with preferred terms to improve search accuracy.
  • Purpose: Enhances search relevance by accounting for variations in user language.
  • Types:
    Synonyms: “TV” → “Television”, “Laptop” → “Notebook”
    Typo Corrections: “iphne” → “iPhone”
    Branded Terms: “Nike running shoes” → “Nike Air Max”
